Confidence in the housing market dipped slightly in August but is still trending upward, according to a survey of state Realtors.
Members of the Massachusetts Association of Realtors had greater concerns about the housing market in August than in any month since January, the survey found. At the same time, confidence in the housing market has been increasing on a year-over-year basis for each of the past 25 months.
The Realtors also indicated that they expect home prices to rise nearly 5 percent over the next year. That’s a sunnier appraisal than last month, and is the 19th consecutive survey that year-over-year price confidence has improved.
But Realtors were split on how a nearly 1-point increase in interest rates on 30-year fixed rate mortgages affected homebuyer activity. A quarter said they saw an increase in activity, 37 percent said they saw a decrease, and 39 percent reported no change.
