Mass. Real Estate Confidence Keeps Rising

Confidence in the Massachusetts real estate market rose for the fifth straight month in December compared with the end of 2010, aided by unseasonably warm weather in the final two months of last year, according to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.

The association's Market Index, which measures Realtor confidence, rose a whopping 45 percent from December 2010. "While there was some market uncertainty (during) the year, it was good to see 2011 close with our members' confidence going up for the fifth straight month," said Trisha McCarthy, the association's president.

Meanwhile, the association's price index, which indicates where real estate prices are headed, also rose in December. The index was up 2 percent over December 2010, but a more robust 9.55 percent over November 2011.
