Mass. Physicians Do Well In Quality Report

Massachusetts Health Quality Partners‘ fifth annual clinical quality report says Massachusetts medical groups surpass most in the nation in the quality of medical care.

The report is based on how well medical groups perform in meeting national standards for preventative care, helping manage chronic conditions and avoiding the overuse of medications and certain tests.

According to the report, Massachusetts physicians performed better than the national average on 28 of 30 measures and above the 90th percentile in 14 of the 30.

The MHQP intends physician practices to use data in the reports to focus on the areas of greatest need and to identify best practices.
