Pending sales of single-family homes in Massachusetts rose for the 11th straight month in March compared to the same time frame in 2010 and 2011, the Massachusetts Association of Realtors announced today.
The number of homes placed under agreement in March rose 38.8 percent to 4,519 homes. It's the first month since June 2011 in which the number of pending sales topped 4,000. On a month-to-month basis, the number of homes under agreement rose 34.2 percent from February.
Pending sales are a leading indicator of actual home sales for the next two to three months.
Meanwhile, the number of condominiums put under agreement in March was up 30.4 percent over March 2011 (1,854 units). Month to month, the increase was 45.2 percent.
