Mass Megawatts Wind Power to change name to reflect shifting focus

Mass Megawatts Wind Power makes solar panels that track the sun.
Worcester-based Mass Megawatts Wind Power will change its name to Mass Megawatts, Inc. as solar power has become the company's primary focus.
The change will take place after the company completes the regulatory process, according to a June 26 press release.
“Since most of our business has been involved with solar energy related activity since 2014, we believe that changing our name from Mass Megawatts Wind Power, Inc. to Mass Megawatts, Inc. is a reasonable action to reflect the business of the Company more accurately in recent years. At the same time, the company will continue with wind power activities while most of our business will be primarily with solar power,” read the press release.
In 2021, the company announced that it was implementing solar tracking technology, designed to follow the sun over the course of the day to increase the production of solar energy.
The company announced in June that it had improved its Concentrated Solar Power Tracking System to work with traditional photovoltaic solar panel systems by creating a shield that prevents the panels from overheating.
Mass Megawatts says that the tracking system improves energy production by 170%, according to a June 29 press release from the company.
