Mass Life Sciences Internship Program Expanded

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center is expanding its Internship Challenge program – which provides paid internships for Massachusetts students at various life sciences companies – from a summer-only program to year round.

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray and MLSC President Susan Windham-Bannister made the announcement this morning at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Life Sciences and Bioengineering Center at Gateway Park in Worcester.

The program has already landed 487 students at internships during the last two summers. This summer, 214 students were selected from a pool of 1,300 applicants for an internship at one of 125 participating companies. The MSLC said 50 of the program’s past interns have been offered jobs at the companies after their internships.

Students are paid up to $15 an hour as part of the program. It will begin as a year-round program this fall.
