Mass. gas prices up by 2 cents in the last week

The average price for gasoline is up by 2 cents in Massachusetts averaging to about $2.10 per gallon of regular unleaded, according to the travel organization AAA Northeast.

This price remains lower than the national average which is six cents higher at $2.16 per gallon of regular unleaded. The price in Massachusetts is three cents higher than one month ago when the price per gallon of regular unleaded was $2.07.

“With travel down, it’s no surprise that we saw the lowest Thanksgiving demand for fuel since 1997,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast spokesperson. “But robust gains in crude oil prices and the OPEC decision to increase production next year combined to boost prices two to 12 cents in a number of states.”
