Mass. gas prices tumble 15 cents in a month

Despite unrest in the Middle East, gasoline prices have dropped 15 cents over the past month, according to the latest numbers from AAA Southern New England.

As summer winds down, the trend continued this past week with the price at local pumps dipping another three cents, with regular unleaded averaging $3.47 per gallon in Massachusetts, according to AAA.

“This continuing drop in prices spells more good news for end-of-summer travelers,” said spokeswomanMary Maguire, in a statement.

The current price is two cents more than the national average for self serve unleaded of $3.45. A year ago at this time, the Massachusetts average price was 17 cents higher at $3.64, according to AAA.
