Mass. gas prices still falling, down to $4.27

The average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Massachusetts dropped another 10 cents, following an 11-cent drop last week.

Prices are down 40 cents in the past month to $4.27, but remain well above $3.05 recorded this week in 2021, according to a Monday report from travel association AAA Northeast.

“Falling pump prices may eventually lead to more drivers hitting the road again. But that hasn’t happened yet. Instead, many drivers are waiting for prices to fall further before reverting to their typical driving habits,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast director of public and government affairs.

Massachusetts prices remain higher than Connecticut and Rhode Island despite having lower prices than its neighbors to the south a year ago.

The national average price dropped 10 cents, to $3.95, according to AAA.
