The average gasoline price in Massachusetts is sitting at $3.39 per gallon of regular unleaded, 3 cents up from last week, according to a Monday report from the American Automobile Association Northeast.
“Uncertainty over Russia’s intentions toward Ukraine is contributing to higher crude oil prices, which are closing in on $90 per barrel,” said Mary Maguire, director of public and legislative affairs at AAA Northeast in a press release. “Russia is a member of OPEC+, and any sanctions based on their actions toward Ukraine may cause it to withhold crude oil from the global market. Higher oil prices will lead to higher pump prices for drivers.”
Fuel prices in Massachusetts are up 1 cent from this time in December, and exactly up $1 from last January, per AAA.
The national average, which was reported on Monday as $3.36 per gallon, is up 8 cents from the end of December.
