This week, Massachusetts gasoline prices increased again, rising up to $2.69 per gallon of regular unleaded, comparatively to last week’s $2.64.

The gas prices will continue to rise as the state enters the spring months, due to refinery utilization hitting its lowest level in two years, the travel association AAA Northeast said on Monday.

“With crude oil prices back on the rise, we could see the national average climb towards $2.90 this spring with some relief by early summer,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast director of public and government affairs.

On Monday, prices were 25 cents higher than this time last month, which stood at $2.44. Similarly to a year ago, prices are 26 cents higher, costing $2.43.
