Massachusetts’ economy continues to be driven by small businesses, according to a report issued by the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration.
2005 data shows that 98.1 percent of the state’s employers are small businesses. The data also showed that 1,490,506 people are employed by small businesses, representing 50.1 percent of the non-farmer private sector workforce.
Thomas Sullivan, Chief Counsel for Advocacy, says that small businesses have the ability to create new jobs faster than their larger competitors.
