In the first quarter of 2008, Massachusetts saw the highest number of foreclosure filings on record, ForeclosuresMass.com reports.
There were 9,114 foreclosure filings in the quarter, 37.6 percent more than in Q1 2007. The previous high was the last quarter of 2007, with 8,579.
The company said 25 communities in the state with at least 10 foreclosures have seen rates double in the past 12 months.
Those include Framingham, Berlin, Boxborough, Hardwick, Milford, Douglas, Mendon, Medway, Millis and Phillipston.
