Ahead of the Feb. 9 New Hampshire presidential primary, several Massachusetts elected officials are planning to head north this weekend to help Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
Attorney General Maura Healey, Treasurer Deb Goldberg, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Congressmen Seth Moulton, Joesph Kennedy III, Bill Keating, Michael Capuano, Niki Tsongas and Jim McGovern will join other Clinton campaign surrogates for canvassing events around the state, according to the campaign. The group will also include actor Ted Danson and activist Gloria Steinem.
According to RealClearPolitics.com, a website which calculates an average of polls taken from around the country, Clinton is trailing her opponent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in the Granite State by double digits, despite continuing to best him nationally.
Clinton, Sanders and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will face their first primary contest hurdle Monday at the Iowa caucuses. The Massachusetts presidential primaries are March 1.
