Mass. Construction Employment Follows National Trend

Massachusetts employment in the construction sector fell by 0.5 percent or 500 jobs from November to December 2010, according to a report from the Associated General Contractors of America.

The Bay State is not alone. Thirty-seven states also reported construction job losses at the end of 2010. The states hardest hit include West Virginia, North Dakota and Kentucky.

Year over year, Massachusetts actually added 1,300 jobs for an increase of 1.2 percent.

The Associated General Contractors also reported that more of its members expect the industry will not recover until 2012.
