Kathleen Murphy, president and CEO of the Maryland Bankers Association, has been named incoming president and CEO of the Massachusetts Bankers Association, the organization announced on Friday.
Murphy will replace outgoing president and CEO Daniel Forte, who plans to retire at the end of October. Murphy will join the Massachusetts association before the end of September to help ease the transition, according to the announcement.
Murphy headed the Maryland Bankers Association for 20 years, and before that she served as director of the Community Bankers Council at the American Bankers Association in Washington D.C.
Forte has headed the MBA as president and CEO since 1997, first joining the organization in 1985, according to the announcement.
The Massachusetts Bankers Association represents roughly 135 commercial, savings, cooperative and federal savings banks, as well as savings and loan associations.
