Mass adds 10.3K jobs; unemployment at 7%

The Bay State’s jobless rate fell slightly in December as more jobs were added than in previous months, the Patrick administration said today.

Unemployment in Massachusetts fell from 7.1 percent in November to 7 percent, according to the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development. But that’s 0.3 percent higher than the jobless rate in December 2012.

The biggest gains by industry in December came in professional, scientific and business services (4,700 additional jobs), trade, transportation and utilities (4,300) and leisure and hospitality (2,600). All three sectors have seen net employment gains over 2013.
