Marlborough-based Qteros Inc., which has a novel fuel-producing technology, was named to the “Top 10 Private Companies to Watch” by Technology Review, a publication produced by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Qteros has developed a system to make cellulosic ethanol-a bio-fuel made from wood, grasses or the inedible parts of plants-through the use of a unique microbe.
Other companies named to the list include Tesla Motors of California, which is an electric car manufacturer. The list was produced for the November/December issue of Technology Review.
Qteros was the only Massachusetts company to make the list and one of only two New England-based companies (New Hampshire-based Mascoma Corp. was the other).
