Richardson Electronics, an Illinois-based engineering solutions company with manufacturing operations in Marlborough, is celebrating 75 years in business.
The company, which provides engineered solutions for the display, healthcare, and power management markets, will celebrate its 75th year in business throughout 2022 with activities highlighting its history and plans for its future.
Richardson’s Canvys division for visual technology solutions is located in Marlborough. Canvys created display solutions for a variety of fields and can make both custom-engineered systems and modifications to existing products.
More than 60% of the products made by Richardson as a whole are manufactured in Marlborough, Donaueschingen, Germany, LaFox, Ill., or by one of the company’s worldwide manufacturing partners.
Arthur Richardson founded the company in 1947 in a red barn in Wayne, Ill. His son, Edward Richardson, took over as president and CEO in 1974 and became chairman of the board in 1983, when the company went public. He’s still the board’s chair today, and his mother, Florence, worked at the company until she was 95.
Today, the company has three divisions, including Canvys, more than 60 locations worldwide, with more than 20,000 customers and hundreds of employees.
