Small businesses in Marlborough will again be able to apply for grants of up to $5,000 to help them weather the coronavirus pandemic after 25 businesses received grants in the first round.
“We were really happy to see so many small businesses in Marlborough apply, and we felt it was important to re-open the grant program so that more of our local business owners could benefit during this time”, said Marlborough Mayor Arthur Vigeant.
The Marlborough COVID-19 Small Business Relief Grant Program retains the same guidelines it had when it launched in June. It will cover expenses up to $5,000 for costs incurred on or after May 18, the state’s first phase of business reopening. Uses for the funds include safety and operational retrofits for re-opening, personal protective equipment, training and any other costs related to reopening under state guidelines.
The program was re-launched by the Marlborough Economic Development Corp. after distributing more than $100,000 to 25 small and locally owned businesses in Marlborough in its first round.
“We were excited to help our small and local operators during such a difficult time, and it was really great to see such a variety of businesses apply and be awarded through this program. We were able to help restaurants, retailers, educational facilities and more”, MEDC Executive Director Meredith Harris said in a press release.
The deadline for this next round of applications, which open today, will be Aug. 21.
