Construction of a 120,600-square-foot biotech facility has been approved by the City of Marlborough, according to Lincoln Property Co., a real estate developer based in Texas with offices in Boston.
The new facility at 1000 Nickerson Road will accommodate research and development and biomanufacturing tenants, per LPC’s website. Construction is expected to begin in early 2022.
The developer bought the 12.3-acre site for $2.9 million in May, according to the Middlesex South Registry of Deeds. It was sold by sheet metal manufacturer K Tron Inc., which is based on Bartlett Street.
Nickerson Road is located off I-495 and Route 20 around a cluster of industrial buildings.
Marlborough was one of eight Central Massachusetts communities to receive a platinum rating for BioReadiness by Cambridge-based MassBio, which is the organization’s highest rating based on municipalities’ biotech infrastructure.
