Marlborough manufacturer expands its board with CFO from Bedford life sciences firm

Lifeward, a Marlborough-based mobility device manufacturer, has expanded its board of directors, naming Robert Marshall as its newest member after he officially joined on Saturday.

Outside of Lifeward, Marshall works as CFO and treasurer at Lantheus Holdings, a Bedford-based publicly traded radiopharmaceutical manufacturer, according to a Thursday press release from Lifeward. Previously, he served in several leadership roles at Zimmer Biomet Holdings, a publicly traded medical device company headquartered in Indiana, ending his 16-year tenure with the firm as vice president, Americas finance for the U.S., Canadian, and Latin American commercial markets.

“He will have the opportunity to apply his considerable financial acumen and insights to the board in its role of oversight and strategic guidance for Lifeward,” Joseph Turk, chairman of the board of directors, said in the release.

Marshall will serve as chairman of Lifeward’s audit committee. His appointment comes as the board approved its expansion from six to seven directors on Saturday, according to a Thursday filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

“I am very attracted to the mission of Lifeward, and I believe the company has a very promising future in driving advancements in the rehabilitation of individuals with physical and neurological disabilities and conditions,” Marshall said in the release.

Marshall’s appointment comes as Lifeward announced on Monday it would close its facilities in California, and Islandia, New York on Dec. 31, laying off approximately 15 employees in manufacturing-facing roles.
