BusinessWeek has named Marlborough the best place in Massachusetts to raise kids.
In explaining its reasoning for the choice, the magazine cited the Raytheon, Compaq and Fidelity Investments offices in town, as well as fishing and boating opportunities at Fort Meadow Reservoir.
BusinessWeek said it chose communities for its state-by-state list that are medium size — larger than the statewide median but no larger than 50,000 — and middle-income — with median incomes within 20 percent of the state’s median. Rankings were also based on factors including school performance, number of schools, crime statistics and the cost of living.
