Marlborough has received a $2-million MassWorks grant to remake a stretch of Lincoln Street with new paving, traffic signals and other improvements.
The MassWorks infrastructure funding, which the Marlborough Economic Development Corp. announced Friday, will benefit a roughly half-mile stretch of Lincoln Street between Broad Street and the Assabet River Rail Trail in the city's French Hill neighborhood.
The work will include a full reconstruction of Lincoln Street, replacement of three traffic signals, on-street public parking, streetscape improvements, and upgrades to the underground gas utilities.
Revitalizing Lincoln Street and the French Hill neighborhood has been one of the city’s top economic development priorities over the past six years, the Marlborough Economic Development Corp. said. The city has put in place a strategic revitalization plan to include new mixed-use zoning to encourage development, targeted infrastructure investments, a community planning and parking study, acquisition of key sites, and expedited permitting.
