Bridge Energy Group, a Marlborough firm focused on utility business consulting and system integration, announced it has been chosen by National Grid as the project leader for the utility's smart grid pilot in Worcester.
The project covers 15,000 customers and is designed to give them more control over and knowledge about their energy use. Other goals include saving energy, increasing electric service reliability and improving response to power outages. The project is expected to serve as a model of how to utilize technologies such as meter data management in a software as a service model. It will also be the first to utilize 4G WiMAX wireless technology for network communications.
Bridge will manage more than a dozen vendors and technologies as part of the project. It will oversee areas that include program governance and management, business readiness, solution architecture and design, testing, and transition to operations.
