Marlborough firm set to join Russell 3000 Index

Akoya Biosciences, a Marlborough firm analyzing tissues for therapy research, announced Wednesday it will be joining the broad-market Russell 3000 Index.

The index’s annual reconstitution is set to take place after the U.S. market opens on June 28, according to a release from Akoya. At that time, Akoya will be a part of the index, which will remain in place for one year. The FTSE Russell determines membership for its Russell indexes primarily by objective, market-capitalization rankings and style attributes, according to the release.

“We believe this will increase the overall awareness of, and exposure to, our stock among the investment community,” Akoya CEO Brian McKelligon said in the release.

The inclusion in the index follows the company’s initial public offering in which it had gross proceeds of $151.3 million.
