A hacking incident at Marlborough reproductive health center ReproSource, Inc. impacted 350,000 patients, according to a report filed to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights on Oct. 8.

The ransomware attack on ReproSource’s network occurred on Aug. 8 and was discovered on Aug. 10 when it was contained by severing the network connection, according to a statement from ReproSource, which specializes in fertility testing and research.

Based on a nearly two-month investigation of the hack, the organization determined personal information that may have been accessed include billing and health information, such as diagnosis codes, test results, medical history information, and health insurance names and numbers. Names, addresses, phone and email info, and birth dates were also potentially accessed.

On Sept. 24, the health group determined which patients had been potentially impacted by the attack and notified them.

ReproSources has since enhanced its cybersecurity by adding monitoring and detection tools, per the statement.

The revelation of the ReproSource hack comes after UMass Memorial Health Care in Worcester was hacked, according to a report filed Oct. 15, which impacted roughly 209,000 patients.
