Louisiana-based Amedisys Inc. has signed an agreement to acquire Tenet Healthcare’s home health and hospice operations in Massachusetts and three other states, according to a company statement issued Wednesday.
The agreement to acquire Tenet’s MetroWest Home Health and Hospice business, based in Marlborough, is scheduled to close May 1 pending regulatory approval, according to Amedysis spokeswoman Kendra Kimmons. Information about the size of the organization was not available by deadline Wednesday afternoon.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Tenet is the for-profit parent of Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester and MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and Natick. It is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
This will be the second home health and hospice acquisition for for-profit Amedysis in Central Massachusetts. In January, the company acquired Home Staff, the home care division previously owned jointly by Worcester-based Fallon Health and VNA Home Care.
As part of the Tenet acquisition, the company will also acquire operations in Arizona, Illinois and Texas, according to the statement. Amedysis has announced six acquisitions since December 2015, including those in Boston and Danvers, spending $125 million in capital costs under the spree.
