Marlborough Alzheimer’s treatment firm secures $2.6M in funding

Marlborough’s Cognoptix, a healthcare company developing a system for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease, announced it has closed on an oversubscribed $2.6 millon Series R financing round.

The company is developing the Sapphire II system using an eye scan to aid in the early detection and diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.

“With these funds Cognoptix can plan its clinical, regulatory and commercial future for bringing this first-of-its-kind Alzheimer’s detection technology to the market,” said John Conley, Cognoptix board director and member of Launchpad Venture Group in Boston.

The funding round was spearheaded by the company’s president and CEO, Dr. Susanne Wilke, who joined the company in early 2019.
