Rick Bennett, the CEO of Main Street Bank and its predecessor in Marlborough for 17 years, is retiring, the bank announced Tuesday.
Bennett will be succeeded by Wally Dwyer, who was the president and CEO of North Middlesex Savings Bank prior to its merger with Marlborough Savings Bank last year to form Main Street Bank. Dwyer was elected unanimously by the bank's board of directors and will take over on Jan. 1.
Bennett was the CEO of Marlborough Savings Bank before it became Main Street Bank and spent 43 years in banking.
“Words can’t express the appreciation I have for my team, customers, and peers that have done so much to help me grow as a person, as a manager, and to help the bank achieve much success throughout my tenure,” Bennett said in a statement.
Dwyer has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University.
Main Street Bank, which is based in Marlborough, has 13 branches from Sudbury and Westborough to Pepperell and Lunenburg.
