The Main South Transformative Development Initiative announced Monday it plans to install banners and launch a branding initiative for the low-income and culturally diverse neighborhood.
The installation will be the city’s largest public banner project and will be displayed along Main Street throughout the entire Main South neighborhood, according to the release.
In 2018, MassDevelopment designated Main South as a Transformative Development Initiative District and awarded the Main South TDI $30,000 to finance projects focusing on making the neighborhood a vibrant, inviting, and accessible destination, according to the Main South TDI.
Through this branding initiative, Main South’s new logo and slogan demonstrate the community’s cultural diversity and history.
According to the release, the banner project will feature 52 street banners produced by Serrato Signs of Worcester and is part of several ongoing beautification projects planned for the neighborhood.
“We are very pleased and optimistic for the partnerships that have developed for the continued betterment of our Main South Neighborhood community. It has helped amplify the resident voices of the Main South Neighborhood, by letting the rest of our city know what a culturally vibrant and richly diverse in all aspects, we have here in the heart of Worcester.” said Maritza Cruz, co-chair of Main South Beacon Brightly Neighborhood Association.
