Looking On The Bright Side

It's hard to find much good in the changes that many employers have had to make over the last year, but a new Accountemps survey suggests professional employees have at least a little bit of a reason to smile.

The survey found that 77 percent of professionals saw at least one positive effect from the downturn. For 53 percent, that was the ability to tackle new projects. Fifty-two percent said they've been able to assume additional responsibility, and the same portion said they're now taking on more challenging work.

Still, just 12 percent have seen a formal recognition of their increased contributions in the form of a promotion.

Accountemps is a division of specialized temporary staffing company Robert Half International Inc.
