A doctor who has worked at Milford Regional Medical Center for 37 years has been elected to be the hospital’s president of medical staff for the third time.
Dr. Albert Crimaldi, who previously served in this role from 1991 to 1994 and again from 2005 to 2009, will once again serve as the principal elected official representing the hospital’s medical staff, according to a press release issued by Milford Regional on Wednesday.
“I feel honored to once again lead my physician colleagues, who have entrusted me with this great responsibility,” Crimaldi said in the press release. “I also welcome the opportunity to work with hospital leadership to advocate on behalf of our clinicians and patients.”
First joining Milford Regional’s staff in 1987, Crimaldi previously served as chairman for the hospital’s Department of Medicine and is now the division chief of gastroenterology. He served on the hospital’s Board of Trustees for 19 years. He graduated with both his MD and PhD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Crimaldi replaces Dr. Jeanne McCoy as president. McCoy, a pediatrician and hospitalist at Milford Regional, served in the elected role for four years.
“Dr. Crimaldi has served in almost every key leadership post as a physician and board member, and we are thrilled to have him return to serve as president of the medical staff once again,” Edward Kelly, president and CEO of Milford Regional, said in the press release.
Crimaldi will serve as president of the medical staff as Milford Regional continues to work toward a deal to see it become an affiliate of UMass Memorial Health in Worcester. The two organizations announced their intent to become affiliated in January, with the deal expected to be finalized sometime in late 2024.
