Julie Sanders Yi, a longtime employee at Ware-based Country Bank, has been elevated to the executive role of CFO.

Sanders Yi has 23 years of financial experience and most recently served as a senior vice president for the bank, according to a press release issued by Country Bank on Monday.

“Julie’s promotion to CFO is a well-deserved recognition of her exceptional leadership and expertise,” Mary McGovern, president and CEO of Country Bank, said in the press release. “Throughout her tenure at Country Bank, Julie has consistently demonstrated her commitment to excellence and ability to drive results. Her deep understanding of finance and strategic mindset, which will guide us into the future, make her the ideal candidate for this critical role.”

McGovern served in the CFO role until January, when she was named the first woman president of the 174-year-old bank. McGovern later took over the role of CEO as well in July, replacing longtime Country Bank leader Paul Scully

A resident of Holden, Sanders Yi has been with Country Bank since 2012, according to her LinkedIn profile. She is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a degree in accounting.

Country Bank is the 25th largest bank in Central Massachusetts when ranked by local deposits, as it has local deposits of $357.7 million as of June 30, 2023, according to the data from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
