Two local entrepreneurs, Matthew Brogie of Sutton and Mark Botticelli of North Grafton, have started a new business, MB Island Ventures, to sell one-inch “lots” on a private tropical island.
The company will sell the tiny parcels of land through a Facebook application. It is now pursing the purchase of a Caribbean or South Asian island and is already making lot reservations.
Brogie said he and Botticelli worked together at a high-tech company for several years and have participated in small ventures in the hardware and software fields.
Brogie and Botticelli said the enterprise was inspired by businesses that allow customers to name a star or buy a single share of a stock as a novelty item.
