Local Bank Increases United Way Giving By 26%

Commerce Bank of Worcester raised $60,000 for the United Way of Central Massachusetts this year, a 26 percent increase over the bank's 2008 contribution.
Of that amount, bank employees donated $44,300, 38 percent more than they did last year, the bank said.
This year, the United Way of Central Massachusetts invested more than $5.8 million in the community through numerous agencies and programs aimed primarily at children, youths and families.
