The Littleton Electric Light Department purchased a 4.4-acre former lumber yard, more recently a bulk stone storage facility, at 97 Mill Road in Littleton for $2.15 million, according to the Middlesex South Registry of Deeds.
The Town of Littleton is going to use the 8,000 square feet of existing structures on the property for storing equipment, and the Littleton Electric Light & Water Department is planning to utilize the site for energy sustainability projects, according to a statement from The Stubblebine Co. | CORFAC International of Lexington.
The real estate firm’s Advisor Devon Wagner and Principals James Stubblebine and David Stubblebine represented the seller and directly procured the buyer.
The seller, Warrens Mill Realty LLC of Westford, purchased the property from Parlee Lumber and Box of Chelmsford in 2017 for $1 million. The property is assessed by the Town for $1 million.
The municipal electric light department is able to secure low-cost electricity, which benefits the residents and businesses in Littleton and Boxborough, according to the department's website.
LELD had the second lowest average electric bill in the state in December, according to data from the department’s February newsletter. At $136.73 per 1,000 kilowatt-hours, it is well below nearby communities Acton, which is served by Eversource at $328.90, and Ayer, which is served by National Grid at $483.33.
