Devens hydroponic grower Little Leaf Farms has hired a former vice president of sales from the California fruit company Dole as its new senior vice president of sales.
The move to hire Chris Hill comes as Little Leaf Farms prepares for expansion after raising $300 million in new capital from Texas investment firm TPG, and Bank of America of North Carolina in June.
The company will open a new greenhouse on 180 acres in McAdoo, Pennsylvania this summer and has plans to open greenhouses in Pennsylvania and North Carolina in the future.
Hill brings more than 20 years of experience in produce sales and management, including more than 17 years at Fresh Express, Inc. of Florida, according to a Wednesday press release from Little Leaf.
“I’m very excited to join the talented team at Little Leaf Farms to share my years of experience within the packaged salad space. CEA (controlled environment agriculture) is a highly sought-after, emerging segment of the industry, and I’m looking forward to building on Little Leaf Farms’ leadership in the space through continued expansion,” said Hill in the press release.
