Losing your income can be disabling. Social Security Administration numbers show that 30 percent of American workers will experience some type of disability in their lifetime, but only 3 percent will have enough disability insurance to replace all of their income, according to a survey by Country Insurance & Financial Services. Of the 3,000 Americans surveyed, 35 percent said none of their income would be replaced if they were unable to work. Though less than half of all disability claims are approved by the SSA, more than 30 percent of Americans would plan on their disability income to come  from the government.
