Lisa Perrin

Age: 38
Title: Vice President, Retail Banking Market Manager
Company: Bay State Savings Bank
Company location: Worcester
Residence: Chelmsford

Career highlights:
I am currently responsible for the retail banking division of Bay State Savings Bank, a full-service community bank founded in Worcester in 1895. I oversee the bank’s seven branches located in Worcester, Holden, Auburn and Auburn High School.
I began my career with Shawmut bank in the early 90s as a teller and have worked my way through the ranks ultimately to where I am today. I have learned about banking hands on from the front lines as well as in boardrooms.

Community involvement:
I am new to the Worcester community, having only worked in this marketplace under a year; however I was excited to get involved straight away. I am currently on the planning committee for the Worcester Alliance for Economic Inclusion.
On a personal note, I volunteer my time with my sister Shannen Foster supporting cancer research. We spend our free time making cancer awareness bracelets and donating the proceeds from these sales to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in our father’s name. Our father fought small cell lung cancer for more than 2 1/2 years until the disease took him in October 2004. I am hopeful that in my lifetime researchers find a cure for this deadly disease so others, like me, will not have to lose their parents or any loved one in such an unnecessary way.

Biggest success:
My biggest success in my professional life has been a series of small successes or stepping stones. I have been fortunate to have had so many opportunities to expand my horizons and take my passion for meeting and talking to people throughout the various stages in my career. From my first promotion from teller to head teller to my current role of vice president, retail banking, I have not stopped trying to learn, achieve and advance through the stages of my career.

Dream job:
I would love be a travel and tourism consultant that observes and reviews resorts and facilities around the world.

Businessperson she most admires and why:
I am sure it has been said time and again, but I really admire Oprah Winfrey. Not only has she become a brand name by doing what she does so naturally, listening and letting people tell their stories, she is also an accomplished businesswoman and humanitarian.
