Lightower Buys NY Fiber Company

Less than a month after acquiring Veroxity Technology Partners of Westford, Boxborough's Lightower Fiber Networks said it would buy New York fiber optics company Lexent Metro Connect.

The newest purchase will extend the company's reach across the New York and New Jersey regions and will add 150 miles of fiber cable and service to 200 commercial buildings that are currently being operated by Lexent. The company did not say how much it paid for Lexent.

Lightower already has more than 4,600 miles of fiber-optic cable across New England. Earlier this month Lightower finalized its deal to buy Veroxity. That move added about 2,000 miles of fiber optic cable to the company's 4,500-mile network.
