Lettuce Be Local to begin selling to consumers

Local food from Sterling produce distributor Lettuce Be Local can now go straight to consumers.

The Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm-to-restaurant distributor said Monday it will begin distributing locally grown food for consumers all year long with its Start Cooking at Home CSA program.

The company’s network includes more than 100 farms and producers in New England, with most in Massachusetts.

Ordering for the fall season and the year-round availability begins with the launch of a new online platform that features cooking and storing tips. Recipes from local chefs will be included.

The base cost to participate is $400 for a household of one to two and $750 for a household of three to four, including children.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the company would be delivering produce to consumers’ homes.
