Landscaping that adds value — and curb appeal
Whether you’re planning new construction or renovations to existing property, landscaping is often an important consideration. The right plantings, walkways, decks or patios can add considerable value to property. Along with aesthetics, proper landscaping can make an important contribution to energy conservation.
Leone Landscaping & Construction, Inc. offers expertise in all facets of planning, design and construction of multi-purpose landscapes for residential and commercial clients.
Commonly overlooked is the value of hardscaping, according to Kevin Leone, who oversees sales efforts and works alongside his father at the company.
"Hardscaping refers to stonework, walkways and patios," Leone explains. "It’s the framework for lawns and ornamental plantings." A well planned hardscape shows off a property to its best advantage and creates real value.
Combining the elements of hardscaping and landscaping, Leone points out, can include using trees or shrubs to enhance a scenic view or block a less than desirable one.
Plantings of trees and shrubs can create needed shade or provide insulation around the foundation of a home or building.
Leone brings more than 20 years of hardscaping, landscaping and construction expertise. Joining his father Joseph in a newly-formed company, Kevin broadens the services Leone Landscaping & Construction offers to both commercial and residential clients.
The senior Leone has experience in the construction industry. Kevin Leone has worked as an employee and subcontractor in the landscaping business and is a former owner of a landscaping company.
"Together we bring a personal touch to landscaping and construction projects," Leone says. "We can assist our clients throughout the process, from planning to finish. We sit down and discuss the project and help plan a budget."
In many cases, "people want improvements to their property, but aren’t sure what will work best for their location," Leone explains. "We can offer them the benefit of our experience."
Depending on the client’s knowledge, Leone Landscaping provides advice or walks them through the entire project. "We have solid experience in the field and produce estimates that are fair and accurate," Leone says. "Our quotes spell out exactly what we will do. We mail written estimates ahead of the project’s start, and then follow up with clients to go over every item on the estimate. We want everyone to understand the costs ahead of time."
The company is targeting a market that demands quality, not necessarily the lowest price.
As a full-site company, Leone Landscaping staff can handle projects from plotting the site to the finish work. The firm is fully licensed and has an unrestricted contractors license, property and liability insurance, as well as workers compensation coverage.
"We have all the required OSHA training certificates," Leone adds.
Current trends in residential landscaping reflect developments in the home improvement market. "People want to spend more time at home, so they’re focusing on yard projects, house renovations and additions," Leone says.
A recent project the company completed for a residential client in Sturbridge included a blue stone walkway, granite steps and the popular veneer stone on the foundation.
A yard renovation project for a client in Leicester featured installation of walkways, stairs, patio and creation of a lawn with hydro planting.
Past projects under Leone’s direction include the walking trail and football field at Lake Park on Lake Ave. in Worcester, the softball field and basketball court on Coburn Avenue in Worcester, as well as landscaping at Green Hill Park.
