Rye & Thyme, an upscale comfort food restaurant stationed in the heart of Leominster’s downtown, will not reopen following a closure began in March due to the coronavirus, Niche Hospitality Group of Worcester announced. Instead, it will be replaced by the third location of The Fix Burger Bar, as soon as this fall.

The restaurant, which opened in 2012, is already undergoing renovations.

“We feel that The Fix will be a great fit at the Monument Square location and are excited to be bringing the concept to Leominster,” said Niche Hospitality Group president Michael Covino, in a statement on Friday.

At the same time, Niche’s Mezcal Tequila Cantina will not reopen in its Leominster location until 2021, as part of the company’s staged reopening plan. The company noted the reopening schedule was still tentative.

“It will take time and a coordinated effort to work our way back toward our previous level of operation,” Covino said. “Changes are inevitable. We are consolidating our focus at this point, on our core concepts, to give us the best chance of survival and success in the future.”

The Fix operates two other locations in Worcester and Marlborough.
