Two Central Massachusetts affordable sober housing units have received a combined $97,500 for renovations and building new units.
The grants, from the Center for Community Recovery Innovations, a nonprofit subsidiary corporation of MassHousing, total just over $399,900 for six different sober communities.
In Central Massachusetts, $75,000 will go to the South Middlesex Non-Profit Housing Corporation in Leominster, and $22,500 will go to Community Healthlink in Worcester.
South Middlesex Non-Profit Housing Corp. will use the funds to help create 19 new single-room units of sober housing for men in recovery. That project includes partnerships from the Federal Home Loan Bank and Brookfield Savings Bank.
Community Healthlink will use the funds to help renovate the Green House, a 30-unit affordable sober housing building. Work includes a new roof, flooring and electrical system renovations.
Other organizations receiving funding are EMH Recovery in Brockton, Sage Housing in Greenfield, Bridgewell in Lynn and Greater New Life Christian Center in Springfield.
