An affiliate of Harbor Classic Homes, LLC of Leominster purchased a property at 86 Maple Ave. in Rutland for $1.65 million on Tuesday, according to the Worcester District Registry of Deeds.
The property is for a planned 142-unit duplex senior housing development, for which Harbor Classic Homes submitted plans to the Town of Rutland in March. The development is planned to have a community center, 100 visitor parking spots, and various recreational amenities.
The Maple Avenue site is the former location of the Rutland Heights State Hospital, demolished in 2004. Harbor Classic Homes purchased the land from the Town of Rutland and the Rutland Development and Industrial Commission.
Harbor Classic Homes has built residential communities in Lunenburg, Lancaster, Westminster, and Gardner, according to the company’s website.
