A Leicester marijuana dispensary could be the first Massachusetts retailer to be granted a final license Thursday from state cannabis regulators.
The final license for Cultivate Holdings, which operates a medical marijuana dispensary and cultivation facility is Leicester, is slated to be heard by the Cannabis Control Commission.
The company, which opened for medical patients last November and became the first cannabis dispensary of any kind to open in Worcester County is seeking final licenses for retail sales, cultivation and product manufacturing.
Cultivate also became the first company to be awarded a provisional retail license from the CCC in July.
Cultivate President Sam Barber could not be immediately reached for comment.
CCC officials have said the issuing of final licenses has been a possibility for several weeks. Regulators began final inspections late last month, Chairman Steven Hoffman told reporters after a meeting last month.
Also slated to receive a final license for retail use is New England Treatment Access, a Franklin-based marijuana grower with dispensaries in Brookline and Northampton.
"We're getting there. There's no question about it. But again, the final inspection is to see if there are any issues and if there are issues we're going to have to have those issues dealt with and then we'll have to go out and re-inspect," Hoffman said, according to State House News Service.
July 1 was originally eyed as the recreational cannabis industry’s rollout in the state, but Hoffman has since said sales should begin in late summer or early fall.
