Nonprofit community leadership development organization Leadership MetroWest on Wednesday said Executive Director Helen Lemoine will step down from her role on June 30. The nonprofit has begun its search for her replacement.

Lemoine served as the Framingham nonprofit’s executive director since 2000. She graduated from its Leadership Academy training program in 1993.

“Leading Leadership MetroWest and the Academy for 23 years has been the joy of a lifetime,” Lemoine said in a press release on Wednesday.

Concurrently with Lemoine’s announcement, the Leadership MetroWest board of directors has released a job posting and begun the search process for Lemoine’s successor.

“Helen Lemoine is a fantastic leader who has served Leadership MetroWest with integrity and years of tangible and impactful results on the MetroWest community,“ Chris Brown, chair of the Leadership MetroWest board of directors, said in a press release. “Many of our 800-plus alumni in the region across the corporate, nonprofit and public sectors are better leaders and managers in their organizations and communities today because of Helen.”

The executive director is responsible for programming – including the 10-month Leadership Academy – as well as generating revenue, communications, and handling its finances.

Leadership MetroWest is a community leadership development 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the region with the goal of encouraging Leadership Academy participants and alumni to be more effective community and business leaders while embracing civic engagement, according to a press release. The program serves the public, private, and nonprofit sectors in Framingham, Natick, Ashland, Hopkinton, Holliston, Marlborough, Sherborn, Southborough, Sudbury, and Wayland.

“Helen’s impact can be seen throughout MetroWest,” Massachusetts Senate President Karen Spilka said in the press release. Spilka represents Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Medway, and Natick. “Literally hundreds of our region’s foremost thinkers and doers attended the Leadership Academy during the 23 years that she served as its executive director. Those Academy graduates are today strengthening the region by leading municipal services, nonprofit programs, and businesses of all sizes. Helen is truly a leader of leaders.”
