TeraDiode, a Littleton-based manufacturer of high-power lasers, has closed on a $10 million round of venture funding, the company announced this morning.
The money will help the company commercialize a laser pioneered by its co-founders, Dr. Bien Chann and Dr. Robin Huang, when they were at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The discovery makes ultra high brightness, high-power direct diode lasers possible for the first time, according to TeraDiode. The lasers would be used for industrial and defense purposes.
The financing round was led by Argonaut Ventures I LLC and includes Camros Capital LLC and Stata Venture Partners, which invested $4 million in TeraDiode in 2009.
