Lancaster rehab launches cardiopulmonary service

River Terrace Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Lancaster last week announced a new, specialized cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program on site.

The program will deliver more comprehensive care to rehab patients living with cardiac and pulmonary diseases, enabling them to transition from a hospital stay back to their homes, the 82-bed center said in statement.

The program focuses on short-term rehabilitation and is designed to help patients recognize and self-manage symptoms, decreasing the need for hospitalization and improving quality of life.

Dr. Daniela Capriles will lead a team of clinicians to develop care plans for patients. Capriles is head of cardiology at Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer.

River Terrace said it is the only center in the area offering this specialized program.
